Brenzone del Garda

The earliest historical findings in the town of Brenzone date back to the Bronze Age, demonstrated by the rupestrian art discovered in the Castelletto area. Later it was populated by the Romans, whose passage can be noted both in the centre of Magugnano, with its typically mediaeval appearance and by observing the church of San Zeno, which stands in the cemetery in the centre and is one of the oldest churches on all Lake Garda. In the tenth century, at the time of the Hungarian invasion, a stronghold was built on the island of Trimelone which was then destroyed by Barbarossa in 1158 and subsequently rebuilt by the Scaligeri. It was used as a military deposit but is now in ruins.

In Castelletto the church of San Zen de l’Oselét and the Mother House of the Little Sisters of the Holy Family are both worth a visit. In Biasa you can visit the Church of Sant’Antonio, which was built during the Roman era, the frescoes of the Church of San Nicola in Assenza and the parish church of Castello, which houses an image of the Madonna that is considered miraculous.
