Tignale

Tra storia e presente, un luogo ricco di emozioni

The history of Tignale has ancient origins dating back to the Tiberian age. Thanks to the mild climate of the lake and fertile soil, the settlement of the first inhabitants, the cenomani, was favored. Around 1200 the Lodroni family contributed to the growth and splendor of the places, then continued with the rule of the Scaligeri, who built a castle on the ruins of a similar building. Tignale (BS) At the end of the fourteenth century the Visconti, first, and the bishopric of Trento, then, obtained the jurisdiction of the area. Only a few years later Tignale passed under the dominion of the Serenissima Venetian Republic. In 1797 the end of Venetian independence was proclaimed with the Treaty of Campoformio. Before the twentieth century, Tignale was a rather isolated country. Subsequently, with the construction of the road that connects Tignale to the coast, the situation changes, passing also from an economy based only on agriculture to one where tourism becomes fundamental especially around the 60s / 70s. In 1946, Tignale hosted the famous British politician Winston Churchill for a stay.
